Energy saving renovation and operation management of water supply equipment: dual wheel drive to achieve long-term energy saving and efficiency improvement

In the residential area of No. 7 Changyang Station in Fangshan District, Beijing, a practical energy-saving renovation and refined operation management of water supply equipment provided replicable experience for the green transformation of old residential areas. Before the renovation, the pumping station in the community had a high electricity consumption of 6.46 kilowatt hours per ton of water due to aging equipment and extensive control methods, leading to frequent complaints from residents. After the transformation, through the dual wheel drive of "technological transformation+intelligent management", the annual electricity savings reached 43700 kWh, the carbon emissions were reduced by 32 tons, and the satisfaction of residents increased to 98%.

At the level of technological transformation, the project team implemented three key measures:

Variable frequency speed regulation technology: Replace the original power frequency pump, install three intelligent variable frequency pumps, automatically adjust the speed according to water demand, and avoid energy waste caused by "high-pressure water supply valve throttling". After the renovation, the average load rate of the pump station decreased from 85% to 60%, and the motor efficiency increased by 15%.

Pipe network pressure water supply: By utilizing the residual pressure of the municipal pipe network, three-way valves are added to the direct supply pipeline to achieve a dual-mode water supply of "municipal water pressure+pump boosting". This reduces the running time of the water pump by 40% and saves over 20000 kWh of electricity annually.

Equipment selection optimization: Eliminate high energy consuming water pumps, choose low-noise and high-efficiency stainless steel tube pumps, and install soundproof covers to reduce pump room noise from 75 decibels to below 50 decibels, solving the long-term noise disturbance problem reported by residents.

At the operational management level, the community has introduced the "smart operation and maintenance" mode:

Real time monitoring: Through IoT sensors, parameters such as pressure, flow rate, and device temperature are monitored 24 hours a day, and abnormal data is automatically pushed to the operation and maintenance personnel's mobile app.

Preventive maintenance: Based on equipment operation big data, establish health records and fault prediction models, and provide 30 days in advance warning of bearing wear, seal aging, and other issues, reducing maintenance costs by 40%.

User participation: Develop a resident water-saving mini program that displays real-time household water consumption and rankings, combined with a point reward mechanism, to stimulate residents' enthusiasm for water-saving. After the renovation, the per capita daily water consumption in the community decreased from 0.32 cubic meters to 0.25 cubic meters.

Energy saving renovation is the foundation, and long-term management is the key, "said the project leader. At present, the community has formed a water-saving management mechanism of "government guidance+property leadership+resident participation", and its experience is being promoted in more than 200 old communities in Beijing to help achieve the "dual carbon" goal.
